Hellboy Hatching
I have a love/hate relationship with hatching. Because I generally render in a painterly style, I avoid hatching. But sometimes a piece will tell me what it wants to be and I have to follow. Here I'm working a Hellboy piece, using a G Pen nib and ink. I started with a base in liquid charcoal, then laid down a layer of acrylic medium to make sure I wouldn't get bleeds on the linework from accidentally reactivating any liquid charcoal bits.
